1. REHABILITATION UNIT OF AUDIOLOGY AND SPEECH THEARPY

This unit provides comprehensive diagnostic and rehabilitative services in various speech and hearing disorders which include diagnostic audiology services, hearing therapy & hearing aid fitting & rehabilitation & speech therapy & training.

The unit is equipped with state of the art equipment and houses facilities for diagnostic audiometry, tympanometry, evoked response testing, hearing aid calibration, ear mold lab, play therapy, stroboscopy, & computer aided speech analysis with VAGHMI & vocal-2, speech analysis with software.

Consultations with clinical experts in the unit are available every working day morning. All patients seen in the unit should however have had a previous consultation with the ENT doctors. The unit has developed expertise in the detection & evaluation of pediatric hearing impairment & with its rehabilitation & therapy. The facilities for cochlear implant programming, behavioral assessment, and Neural response telemetry are available in the cochlear implant lab. The speech therapy services provide therapy for stammering, misarticulating, voice disorder, post laryngectomy, aphonia, cleft palate, and patients with hearing impairment.

The department also has advanced equipments & machines to manage cases of nose, paranasal sinus, & skull base disease (Endoscopes, Coablator, Microdebrider, Navigation system, Radio-frequency ablation, Endoscopic drill, Carotid Doppler, CUSA, bone Saw, LASER). The department is also doing skullbase surgery. The department is operating angiofibroma, CSF leaks, transorbital excision of lesions, fungal sinusitis, choanal atresia, tumour of sino-nasal region, etc. on regular basis. The department is doing other extended endoscopic approaches with the Neurosurgery team.

For localization of lesion in Obstructive sleep apnoea, the department has Apneography, Rhinomenometry.  DISE & sleep MRI are performed in collaboration with other Departments. The department is doing, tonsillectomy, adenoidectomy, expension procedures, modified UPPP, epiglotopexy procedures, etc.
