In the training section DTM has provide training to senior residents joined in the department. The senior resident training had started since 2011.
The Objectives of Senior resident training are:

To make the candidate competent to lead and manage transfusion services in various healthcare institutions.

To make the candidate competent to understand the regulatory and accreditation or certification process for a blood centre.

To make the candidate competent to conduct independent research in transfusion medicine and related fields.

To make the candidate competent to serve as educators, trainer, and mentors for other students, laboratory personnel, and other healthcare professionals in the principles and practices of transfusion medicine.

Allied department students: Department provide training to various allied departments students such as Laboratory Medicine, Pathology, Clinical Haematology etc. The primary objective of training of these allied departments are to provide basic knowledge about blood donation, blood components preparations and storage, immunohematology testing and crossmatch.

Technicians: Department also provide training to various departments technicians such as OT technicians.

Observer-ship: Transfusion Medicine specialist from other institutes also come to department for short-term (15 days or 1 month) observer-ships.
