Dr Ritu Gupta is Professor and Officer In-Charge of Laboratory Oncology Unit at the AIIMS New Delhi. She is President of The Cytometry Society (TCS), India. She is a member of the Central Core Research Facility (CCRF) committee of AIIMS and has contributed particularly in the development of the Genomics and Flow cytometry facilities of the CCRF.

Prof. Gupta is the group leader and principal investigator of Unit of Excellence on Multiple Myeloma and Centre of Advanced Research and Education on Acute Myeloid Leukemia. Her laboratory has pioneered several major findings of clinical importance in hemato-oncology in India. Her major research interests are focused on translational research in hematological malignancies with most remarkable achievements including establishment of several hematological investigations of clinical relevance as well as setting up state-of-the-art technologies such as single cell analysis and next generation sequencing guided mutational landscape of hematological malignancies. On the clinical front, she has established minimal residual disease estimation, IGHV somatic mutation detection and molecular characterization of blood cancers using varied molecular methods including Next generation sequencing. Few of the research outputs include development of deep learning based indigenous risk stratification models specific for Indian patients with multiple myeloma, deciphering the process of clonal evolution and epigenetic and genetic biomarkers of prognostic relevance. Considering the challenges in detecting low levels of residual malignant cells, her laboratory is engaged in validating image processing modules for minimal residual disease detection.  She has been awarded several research awards including Smt. Kunti Devi Mehrotra award, AIIMS Oncology Research Excellence award, Berend Houwen Travel Award.
