Laboratory Services at National Drug Dependence Treatment Center
NDDTC operates a well-equipped laboratory that provides comprehensive services for patients attending both outdoor and indoor patient departments for substance use related concerns. All the laboratory services are delivered free of cost. The facility also supports research activities for MD, DM and PhD students.The available services include:
I. Drug Testing
The laboratory is a state of the art facility for qualitative and quantitative analysis of drug of abuse and for monitoring medication compliance. It is equipped with conventional screening methods to ultramodern confirmatory technologies. The following categories of drugs are analyzed using urine, blood and other biological samples.

II. New Psychoactive substance (NPS) Testing
A multicentric study on detection of NPS in India was conducted by NDDTC from 2019-2022 with the support of the Department of Revenue, Ministry of Finance, Government of India. Based on the experience and infrastructure built during the conduct of this study, NDDTC laboratory started to detect and identify existing and novel NPS as part of patient care service.

III. Biochemistry and Haematology Testing
To monitor the health impact of drug use, the laboratory carries our essential haematological and biochemical test. The quantitative analysis of following test parameters are performed.

IV. Viral Marker Screening
NDDTC has commenced the hepatitis clinic since August 2025. This service has been initiated under the National Viral Hepatitis Control Programme. As part of this service, the laboratory screens for viral markers.
