The Department of Onco-Haematopathology provides comprehensive diagnostic services for patients with hematological malignancies, plasma cell disorders, myeloproliferative neoplasms, and related disorders. The department serves both the cancer centres of AIIMS, i.e., Dr. B.R.A. IRCH and National Cancer Institute (NCI), Jhajjar as well as the AIIMS main Hospital, functioning as a tertiary referral centre for specialized hematopathology investigations.
Our integrated diagnostic services include:

Routine Hematology & Morphology: Complete blood counts, peripheral blood smear evaluation, bone marrow aspiration and imprint smear examination, and specialized cytochemical staining.

Flow Cytometry: Comprehensive immunophenotyping for leukemia, lymphoma, plasma cell disorders, measurable residual disease (MRD) assessment and stem cell (CD34) enumeration.

Molecular Hematopathology: Molecular diagnostics for leukemia and myeloid neoplasms, including fusion transcript detection, mutation analysis, disease monitoring, and prognostic biomarker testing.

Multiple Myeloma Diagnostics: Serum and urine protein electrophoresis, immunofixation electrophoresis, serum free light chain assays, β2-microglobulin, and immunoglobulin quantification for diagnosis, staging, and disease monitoring.

Onco-pathology Services: High-risk HPV testing and cytopathological evaluation of body fluids for malignant cell detection.
The department follows an integrated diagnostic approach, combining morphology, immunophenotyping, molecular pathology, and laboratory biomarkers to support accurate diagnosis, risk stratification, therapeutic decision-making, and treatment response monitoring in patients with haematological malignancies. All investigations are performed as per NABL-accredited quality standards.
