Department of Forensic Medicine & Toxicology, AIIMS New Delhi organized the 2nd Annual AIIMS Forensic Guild Conclave 2021, over two days from 19th to 20th March. The event was open to faculties of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology from all the other AIIMS in the country.

DAY 1
- INAUGURATION
The inaugural ceremony began with formal procedure of lamp lighting to seek the blessings of godess Saraswati. The lamp was lighted by the chief guest Dr. BB Choudhary (DCP, Delhi Police) along with Dr. Sudhir K Gupta in the presence of Dr. Binay K Bastia and Dr. D N Bhardwaj. The Chief Guest then delivered a brief lecture highlighting the importance of training of Police and other non-medical staff, in medicolegal work as well as emphasized regarding good communication and interaction by the doctors.
- SCIENTIFIC SESSIONS
- “Futuristic Vision in Forensic Medicine”, SPEAKER- Dr. Binay K Bastia.
- “Centre for Advanced Research and Excellence in Virtual Autopsy”, SPEAKER- Dr. Abhishek Yadav.
- “Pros and cons of using digital X ray imaging in a Forensic setting in India”, SPEAKER- Dr. Raghvendra K Vidua.
- “Overall statistics of cases encountered in the department and the working protocol of Toxicology section”, SPEAKER- Dr. Millo Tabin.
- “UMID (Unidentified bodies and missing person identification portal and DNA database)”, SPEAKER- Dr. C Behera.
- Toxicology laboratory: Dr.A K Jaiswal, Chemist.
- DNA laboratory: Dr. Nidhi Sharma, Chemist.
- Detailed tour of Postmortem and Embalming wing with working SOP: Dr. Abhishek Yadav. Dr Yadav also introduced the delegates to the state of the art Odourless Mortuary Suite and also explained its functionality.
- KEYNOTE SESSION
The session was delivered by Prof & Head, Dr. Sudhir K Gupta, , Forensic Medicine & Toxicology Department, AIIMS New Delhi, who gave a deep insight into the topic, “2nd or 3rd opinion in cases of cbi & referred from court”.
He discussed the highlights of the cases encountered by him and highlighted the need for evaluating the circumstantial evidences in every case and also gave a holistic definition for Forensic Medicine. The delegates were given the opportunity to have hands on the actual case files of the CBI cases and discuss the same with the Board members of the cases. Each case was discussed with photographs along with explanations and basis for giving a particular opinion.

- Guest Lecture: Dr. Elif Günçe ; Regional Coordinator ICRC, “Humanitarian Forensic Action” by ICRC (International Committee of the Red Cross) to promote the Humanitarian approach..
- Panel Discussion and way forward: Further plan of action needed for uplifting of Forensic Medicine in India and also increasing the standards of AIIMS Forensic Medicine departments and bringing it at par with the international standards.
