The Department of Medicine has been at the forefront of achieving the “Trinity of Mission” at AIIMS. It provides holistic patient care services, strives for innovation in medical education, and conducts translational and clinical research. In 2025, the Department of Medicine at AIIMS New Delhi achieved remarkable progress in clinical care, academic innovation, research, and public health leadership. Our specialized clinics—including Infectious Disease, Metabolic, Chest, and Sleep Medicine—continued to provide cutting-edge, compassionate care across a wide disease spectrum. Academically, the department strengthened its educational framework through revitalization of the departmental website and integration of Google Classroom, creating a dynamic digital learning environment that complemented traditional bedside teaching for MBBS, MD, and DM trainees. A highlight of the year was the widely applauded departmental CGR, “Tradition to Transformation: The Changing Face of Medical Education” which catalyzed discussions on modernizing medical education on a strong foundation of traditional bedside teaching and was subsequently adopted by multiple departments, including Surgery and Forensic Medicine. The department also hosted the Inquisito National Postgraduate Medicine Quiz 2025, fostering national academic engagement. Our residents excelled nationally winning the Dr. S. D. Deodhar Annual Intercollegiate Postgraduate National Rheumatology Quiz, reflecting the department’s emphasis on evidence-based, research-oriented training. Research activities flourished, with faculty securing competitive grants and publishing in leading journals. Interdisciplinary grand rounds, simulation-based teaching, and virtual case discussions further enriched postgraduate education. Beyond academics, the department strengthened community outreach, while faculty played influential roles in national policymaking, guideline development, and curriculum design. Through its unwavering commitment to excellence, innovation, and service, the Department of Medicine at AIIMS New Delhi continues to honor its distinguished legacy while shaping the future of medicine in India.
