National HIV/AIDS Reference Laboratory

Laboratory Services

The National HIV/AIDS Reference Laboratory provides diagnostic and monitoring services to patients with HIV/AIDS which includes OPD as well as indoor patients. It is the first laboratory at AIIMS to receive NABL accreditation which has been continuously maintained.

Routine Diagnostic Activities (FY 2021-22)

CD4 Testing

• Total 3399 samples tested for CD4 count estimation from ART centre of AIIMS

• Total 2065 samples tested for CD4 count estimation of the linked centre (LRS Hospital)

• Total 110 samples tested for CD4 count of the admitted patients in AIIMS hospital

ICTC activity

• Pre-test Counseling: 1378 Patients

• Post-test counseling: 1314 Patients

• Referred to RNTCP center: 40 Patients

HIV Testing

• Total- 1378 (HIV Negative- 1037, HIV Positive- 341)

Western blot testing of HIV indeterminate samples

• Total sample tested: 5 samples received and tested from linked State Reference Laboratories.

 

HIV testing of dried blood spot samples under HIV DBS sentinel surveillance program

3. Workshop/Training Organized for HIV State Reference Laboratory

Workshop:

• EQAS panel distribution Workshop- March- 2022 (virtual)

• Participants: Four State Reference Laboratories participated i.e PGIMER, Chandigarh; Govt. Medical College, Patiala; Govt. Medical College, Amritsar and Indira Gandhi Medical College, Shimla and staff of HIV Laboratory, AIIMS.

Trainings:  

• Successful participation in online HIV sentinel surveillance program (HSS-DBS) training conducted by ICMR- NARI.

• Online one day workshop/training for HIV EQAS- participant ICTC laboratory technician: 14.03.2022

• Training CD4 labs on NACO Prayogshala, 4^th February, 2022

• Refresher training programme for laboratory technicians of Sysmex Cyflow CD4 labs conducted by NACO, 08^th to 9^th December, 2021.
