Education
Post graduate computer programming, covering both theory and practical, was conducted for the post-graduate students of Bio-technology department and for MHA students of the hospital covering 20-25 hours of theory. Short Term Training
Short term computer training courses on the use of computers and for the use of Patient Care System were conducted for faculty, residents, nurses and other staff by Ragu Kumar. One week training was conducted for clinical and and administrators from Punjab stateGovt. Medical college on all aspects of patient care system by Ragu Kumar & S.Kailash.
Continuing Medical Education
Satish Prasad participated as a faculty member in the in the National Workshop on Medical Education held in Jan,1992.
Research
Collaborative research completed S.Kailash & N.G.Sekharan were invited by Central Jalma Institute for Leprosy, Agra to design and develop data base and Computer program for Genetics Studies in Leprosy. Satish Prasad developed a computerized data base systemfor "Epilepsy Study" for the Department of Neurology.

Satish Prasad & Dr. R.S.Tyagi established a user friendly, low cost Computer Based Surveillance System for hospital acquired infections and antibiotic usage in tropical countries.
Patient Care
Modules have been implemented for (1) Admission, Discharge and Transfer in Casualty, Orthopedics, C3 Nursery and AB7 Renal Surgery, (2) demonstration and training for use of Laundry, OT,CSSD, Diet and manifold modules of the patient care system and (3) a user friendly, Low cost computer based surveillance system for hospital acquired infections and antibiotic usage in tropical countries, A progam has been developed for computeriseddatabase management for the nosocomial infection surveillance for the hospital infection control program.

Significant Events
Dr. R.S.Tyagiwas invited
i) To chair an oral paper session on "Hospital Information Systems" at the International Congress of Medical Informatics Europe-1991held at Vienna in August 1991,
ii) To deliver a talk on Computerization in Aiims in the IX Annual Conference of Indian Society for Medical Statistics and National Seminar on Statistics in Maternal and Child Health in September 1991 at AIIMS,
iii) To deliver a guest lecture on "Computers and their Applications in Urology" in Inaugural Conference of North Zone Chapter of Urological Society of India held in October 1991 and
iv) To deliver a talk on "The Computer Applications in Hospitals." in the First International Computer Conference in Science, Technology and Medicine in December 1991,Isfahan University of Medical Sciences, Iran. He visited Dundee Institute of Technology under the TCTP Colombo Plan on an invitation from the British Council from 9th Feb. to22nd Feb. 1992. He has also been appointed Honorary Consultant to the State Govt. of Punjab, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare for the Computerization of State Hospitals S.N.Ragu Kumar visited Dundee Institute of Technology under the TCTP British Council Fellowship for training in post expert course in Medical education in February 1992. The Computer Facility organized a half-day Seminar on the Status of Computerization in AIIMS on 24th Sept. 1991 on the occasion of the Institute Day Celebrations on 25th Sept. 1991.
Software Development
N.G.Sekaran developed a Comprehensive Data Bank for AIIMSONIANS and a software for the roll number generation for All India MD/MS and MBBS examination. Monitoring, modification are done of all the software's developed during the previous years. One of the features of this facility is the networking of establishment, finance & accounts, stores, engineering section on a Local Area Network. Concurrently more than 30 users are logging and sharing the database. Necessary training have been imparted to all concerned users. Director and DDA are also working on this network. This is entirely the efforts of P.M.Shrote and R.S.Tyagi.
