Dr. Manjari Tripathi is Professor and Head, Department of Neurology, Dr. S Ramachandran Chair in Neurosciences, (she also heads Unit-II) and is In-charge of the Centre of Excellence for Epilepsy,  at AIIMS , New Delhi. She is an internationally renowned neurologist, epileptologist, clinician-scientist (World Top 5% scientists SciRank), and educator with over three decades of experience in clinical care, research, teaching, and policy development.

After obtaining her DM in Neurology in 1996 from Prestigious institute NIMHANS. Between 1996, till October -1998 November she was faculty St Johns medical college Bangalore she pursued advanced fellowships and professional recognitions including NIH-UCLA Epilepsy Fellowship, was elected Fellow of the National Academy of Sciences, India (FNASc), National Academy of Medical Sciences (FNAMS), Eminent Women Scientists in Medical and Biomedical Sciences , Fellow the Royal College of Physicians, Edinburgh (FRCP) and fellowships in sleep medicine such as American Academy of Sleep Medicine & Indian Sleep disorders Association.

Member of the Institute Body (IB) and Standing Finance Committee of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Rishikesh. Member PhD Committee NIMHANS.

Dr. Tripathi has made pioneering contributions to epilepsy, sleep medicine, cognitive neurology, autoimmune neurology, and neuroimaging, including some of the earliest Indian studies on autoimmune epilepsies and innovative approaches to epilepsy management. She has authored over 585 PubMed-indexed publications in leading international journals, including The New England Journal of Medicine (IF-84.5), The Lancet, JAMA Neurology, Neurology, Journal of Neurology, Neurosurgery & Psychiatry, and Biological Psychiatry. Her work has received more than 26,000 citations, with a Google Scholar h-index of 66, reflecting her substantial global scientific impact.

An outstanding mentor and teacher, she has trained and taught numerous DM Neurology residents from 1996PhD scholars, MBBS students, and nursing professionals with AIIMS from 1998 December.

She has published the first Indian series on autoimmune epilepsies, migraine, and innovative techniques for epilepsy control. Her contributions have been recognized through numerous prestigious national and international honors, including the Dr. S. Ramachandran Chair in Neurosciences (2024)AAPIOS Best Sleep Researcher Award (2019, San Antonio, USA)BMJ Best Research Paper Award (2018)AIIMS Best Research Awards (2013, 2018 and 2024)ILAE–IBE Outstanding Achievement Award for Extraordinary Contributions to Epilepsy (11th Asian & Oceania Epilepsy congress Hong Kong- ILAE & IBE - 2016), and the Guru Dronacharya award, Anandibai Joshi Award in Medicine (2012). Several other awards recognizing her excellence in clinical care, research, education, and leadership in neurosciences.

She has delivered Grand Rounds and invited lectures/talks at leading international institutions/plateform including UCLA, Cleveland Clinic,MNI, Northwestern University, and Rush University (USA), and has served as Visiting Professor at INI Hannover (Germany), Universitas Airlangga, Surabaya (Indonesia), Srilanka , Nepal and institutions in Morocco. A distinguished academic leader, she has held key leadership positions in several national and international professional organizations, including Secretary General of the Indian Epilepsy Society (IES) (https://epilepsyindia.org/executive-committee/)President of ARDSI–Delhi ChapterExecutive Committee Member of the Indian Academy of Neurology (IAN), ISSR, and ISDA, Indian Sleep Disorders Association (http://www.issr.in/), and the International League Against Epilepsy (ILAE faculty top 10). She has organized several international and national conferences, established India's annual Basic and Advanced EEG Workshops, and continues to lead epilepsy schools and training programs for young neurologists and neuroscientists.

She serves as an advisor to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare through the National Health Systems Resource Centre (NHSRC), contributes to the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment's Disability Task Force, and has been actively involved in the formulation of the National Essential Medicines List. She is a specialist advisor for Ayushman Bharat-PM-JAY and Co-Chair of the ICMR Standard Treatment Workflow (STF) initiative.

Internationally, she serves on several expert committees of the International League Against Epilepsy (ILAE), https://www.ilae.org/about-ilae/topical-commissions/yes/commission-on-surgical-therapies/members/  

including the Epilepsy Surgery SubcommissionNeurophysiology Task Force, FDS and Stigma Task Force, and contributes to the International Bureau for Epilepsy (IBE) Driving Task Force, reflecting her global leadership in epilepsy care, research, advocacy, and policy development.

She leads several outreach initiatives, including the Epilepsy Patient Support Group Ekatwam, which provides free medications, counseling, and access to epilepsy surgery for underprivileged patients. Through IREACH, she has organized numerous epilepsy awareness and healthcare camps in rural and underserved regions of India. She also supports individuals living with dementia through the Alzheimer's and Related Disorders Society of India (ARDSI), http://alzheimersdelhi.org/ by facilitating access to free medicines, caregiver assistance, and volunteer-based support services. Her sustained efforts have significantly improved access to neurological care and enhanced public awareness of epilepsy and dementia across diverse communities.

Has delivered numerous expert talks on epilepsy, dementia, sleep disorders, and other neurological conditions through national television, print media, and public awareness platforms. She has contributed to the development of several landmark national guidelines, policy documents, educational manuals, and treatment protocols under the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, ICMR, Ayushman Bharat–PM-JAY, National Health Mission, and CBSE. Her work has influenced national strategies for neurological and mental health services, standard treatment workflows, essential medicines policy, school health education, and health benefit packages, thereby strengthening neurological healthcare delivery and awareness across India.
