Education
The department conducts a two year Master’s course in Biotechnology (M. Biotechnology) with 14 students per batch, oneyear post MD/MS training programme for in-service medical faculty and Ph.D. programme in frontier areas of Medical Biotechnology. The department also invites aspiring post-doctoral candidates with competitive research acumento apply for independent fellowships. To cater to the need of faculty and students for database access, literature search and retrieval of scientific information, the department provides access to a dedicated Bioinformatics section. The department routinely conducts workshops, seminars and guest lectures seriesin wide subject areas to facilitate learning in multifold ways. Additionally, faculty of the department is actively pursuing advanced research in the areas of Infectious diseases (Malaria, Tuberculosis and Leprosy), Bioinformatics, Osteo-Immunology, Virology, and Innate Immunity. Prime research productivityof the department is reflected in terms of numerous international publications, national awards and patents filed by the faculty and students of the department.
