Dr. Mankamna graduated in Biotechnology from Pondicherry University. She earned her Ph.D. in 2021 from Central University of Rajasthan on the subject of Polymeric nanoparticles for the delivery of therapeutic molecules for the treatment of Breast Cancer. She joined the lab as Research Associate. Her research focuses on studying molecular mechanism of lipid droplet biogenesis, where she will be working on deciphering the novel proteins involved in regulation of lipid droplet formation that will ultimately aid in development of therapeutic interventions for lipid droplet storage disorders. She always looks for an opportunity to learn, grow and seek knowledge to excel in the field of translation research.

Mr. Akhil Kumar completed his master’s from the Department of Biotechnology, AIIMS New Delhi. His master’s dissertation work was focused on “functional characterization of minor spliceosomal proteins”. He joined our research group in April 2022 for pursuing PhD degree. He qualified CSIR UGC NET-JRF. Currently he is working on the Indo-Swiss joint research programme (ISJRP) project entitled “Deciphering the function of the conserved fat storage inducing transmembrane (FITM2) protein in lipodystrophy and insulin resistance through systems approaches” funded by DBT.

Mr. Amit Khatri has joined the lab as a Ph.D scholar. in April 2022. He has his bachelor’s degree in Microbiology from University of Delhi and completed his master’s degree from the Department of Biotechnology, AIIMS New Delhi. His master’s dissertation work was focused on Mitochondrial Iron carrier protein in P. falciparum. Currently he is working on the project entitled as “Molecular mechanisms of lipid droplet biogenesis” funded by DBT-Wellcome India Alliance.

Ms. Ritika Chaudhary has completed her B.Sc from Gargi College (Univeristy of Delhi) in the field of Life Sciences and her M.Sc. in Biotechnology from Jamia Millia Islamia. She joined our lab in September 2022 for pursing Ph.D and is currently working to decipher the mechanisms of LD biogenesis at ER subdomains.

Mr. Sahil Ameer is currently 2nd year student pursuing his Master's degree in Biotechnology from Department of Biotechnology, AIIMS, New Delhi. He has Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry from the Department of Biochemistry, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), Aligarh. He joined our lab in June 2024 and is currently working to investigate the role of the Seipin transmembrane domains in the nucleation of lipid droplets.

Mr. Atul Kumar Dandriyal is currently 2nd year student pursuing his Master's degree in Biotechnology from Department of Biotechnology, AIIMS, New Delhi. He has Bachelor's degree in Microbiology from Bhaskaracharya College of Applied Sciences, University of Delhi (DU). He joined our lab in June 2024 and is currently working to determine if composition of fat inside lipid droplets prevents or triggers lipophagy.
