Yoga is our golden heritage; however,
this Indian legacy lacks strong
scientific evidences to be accepted in
the era of modern medicine. We
firmly believe that this conference might stimulate younger
generations to do a better basic as well
as advanced scientific research in the
field of Yoga-meditation. We also
believe that this conference being
organized at All India Institute of
Medical Sciences (AIIMS), and active
participation of renowned faculty /
experts in this conference will leverage
the popularity and health benefits of
yoga-meditation, which still remains
underestimated in today’s era of modern
medical sciences. Pioneer
studies in Yoga research at AIIMS were
taken up by Prof BK Anand, Prof GS
Chhina, and Prof Baldev Singh, and some
classical papers were published during
1960s. AIIMS has been committed to
provide healthcare services to all, and
to facilitate the health promotional
activities at dept of Physiology, Prof R
L Bijlani established “Integral Health
Clinic” at AIIMS, in year 2000.
This 2-Day conference, “Mind, Medicine &
Meditation” will include keynote
addresses, lectures, and presentations
by eminent scientists, experts and
faculty that will highlight the
philosophy of mind & meditation, as well
as role of yoga in evidence based
medicine and its clinical applications.
We expect lots of young scientists,
researchers, and doctors will attend
this conference which will help them to
educate the scientific community. Today
the budding doctor is a seeker as
Western System of medicine doesn't
provide answers to all questions of
physiologic individuality. We hope that
this evidence based approach might
provide some scientific answers.
Above all, this conference will
acknowledge the scientific research and
further enhance the depth and
understanding of mind-meditation and its
adjunct role in medicine.
