विभाग में प्रयोगशालाओं की स्‍थापना निम्‍न प्रयोगशालाएं स्‍थापित की गईं

·         एडीनोसीन डीएमिनेस (एडीए) अनुमान ट्यूबरकुलोसिस पल्‍यूरल एफ़ुसिअन के लिए एम्‍स हॉस्पिटल, नई दिल्‍ली में। यह प्रयोगशाला भीतरी और बाहरी रोगियों के लिए हॉस्पिटल की सेवा उपलब्‍ध कराती रही है और पल्‍यूरल एफ़्यूजन, एसाइट्स और मेनिनजाइंटिस के साथ, 1996 से।

·         पॉलिसोमनोग्राफीज़ के लिए निद्रा प्रयोगशाला (पीएसजीएस) एम्‍स हॉस्पिटल, नई दिल्‍ली में। यह प्रयोगशाला 1998 से इनडोर तथा आउटडोर रोगियों को हॉस्पिटल सेवा उपलब्‍ध करा रही है। रुकावटपूर्ण स्‍लीप एप्‍नीया पर प्रकाशनों की गुणवत्ता से इस प्रयोगशाला के निष्‍पादन का आकलन किया जा सकता है।

·         एम्‍बुलेटरी ब्‍लड प्रेशर निगरानी सुविधा स्‍थापित की।

·         सीरम एन्जिओटेंशन कनवर्टिंग एंजाइम (एसएसीई) सरकोइडोसिस के निदान के लिए अनुमान 2004 से, एम्‍स हॉस्पिटल, नई दिल्‍ली में।

·         फ़ाइब्रिऑप्टिक ब्रोंकोस्‍कोपी लैब

यह सुविधा 1978 से चल रही है। ब्रोंकोस्‍कोपी प्रक्रियाओं के लिए अतिरिक्‍त महत्‍वपूर्ण उपकरण। एक वर्ष में लगभग 750 ब्रोंकोस्‍कोपियां निष्‍पादित की जाती हैं।

 

·         पल्‍मोनरी कार्य प्रयोगशाला

यह प्रयोगशाला आधुनिकतम उपस्‍कर की स्थिति से रज्जित है। यह विभाग के प्रकाशनों द्वारा प्रमाणित है। फेफड़ा आयतनों का माप, स्‍पाइरोमीट्री, पल्‍मोनरी विकीर्णन क्षमता, एयरवे प्रतिरोध, विशिष्‍ट एअरवे चालकत्‍व और ऑक्‍सीजन संतृप्ति नित्‍यक्रम से मापे जाते हैं। अभ्‍यास के दौरान विभिन्‍न कार्डियो पल्‍मोनरी प्रक्रियाओं को मापने के लिए सुविधाएं लैब में उपलब्‍ध हैं।

 

·         बायो सुरक्षा स्‍तर 3 प्रयोगशाला (बीएसएल – 3)

औषधि के विभाग में एक बीएसएल – 3 प्रयोगशाला (एम एण्‍ड डब्‍ल्‍यू जेंडर) स्‍थापित की तपेदिक और एचआईवी रोगियों के सांसर्गिक नमूने संभालने के लिए। यह अक्‍तूबर 2009 में सौंपा गया था। इस प्रयोगशाला का उपयोग विभिन्‍न डायगनोस्टिक परीक्षणों के लिए किया जाता है और अनुसंधान उद्देश्‍यों के लिए यथा इंटरफे़रोन गामा रिलीज़ ऐस्‍से (आईजीआरए), एलपीए तथा सेल्‍स कल्‍चर के लिए स्‍पूटम से डीएनए वियोजन। यह प्रयोगशाला पीएचडी तथा एमडी छात्रों द्वारा प्रयोग की जा रही है।

 

·         डीएनए सीक्‍वैंसर

एप्‍लाइड बायोसिस्‍टम से 3130 xl जेनेटिक एनालाइज़र (16 कैपिलरी डीएनए सीक्‍वेंसर) मई 2010 में औषधि विभाग में स्‍थापित किया गया था। इस उपस्‍कर का उपयोग विभिन्‍न जीन प्रेगमेंटों की रिस्‍टरिक्‍शन फ्रगर्मेंट लेंथ पोलिमॉर्फिज्‍़म (आरएफएलपी) की पुष्टि में किया जाता है। इसका प्रयोग निकट भविष्‍य में एचआईवी ड्रग रिजि़स्‍ट्रेंस और एमडीआर ट्यूबरकुलोसिस स्‍ट्रेन की पुष्टि के लिए भी किया जाएगा। इन परीक्षणों का मानकीकरण चल रहा है।

 

·         फ्लो साइटोमीटर 

13 – कलर (9 – कलर + 4 बेसिक) तीन लेज़रों के साथ (नीला – 488 एनएम, लाल – 633 एनएम और नियर – यूवी – 375 एनएम) प्रवाह साइटोमीटर (एफ़एसीएस एआरआईए – 3) बीडी बायोसाइंसिस से नवंबर 2010 में औषधि के विभाग में स्‍थापित की गई थी। इस मशीन का उपयोग सीडी4 काउंट में और अनेक संक्रामक रोगों, रुकावटपूर्ण स्‍लीप ए‍प्नीया और विभिन्‍न कार्डियोवेस्‍कुलर विकारों के लिए अनुसंधान के उद्देश्‍य से किया जा रहा है।

 

·         एम्‍स, नई दिल्‍ली में चिकित्‍सा विभाग में इंटरमीडिएट रेफ़रेंस लेबॉरेटरी (आईआरएल) की स्‍थापना ।

आईआरएल की स्‍थापना माइक्रोबैक्‍टीरियल संवर्धन और औषधि संवेदनशीलता की जांच के लिए की गई है। इससे ट्यूबरकुलोसिस के शीघ्र निदान की सुविधा होगी विशेषत: एमडीआर – टीबी। यह हमें अधिक टीबी डायग्‍नोस्टिक सेवाओं, प्रशिक्षण उपलब्‍ध कराने और आरएनटीसीपी की गुणवत्ता आश्‍वासन प्रक्रिया के साथ शामिल होने में भी मदद करेगा।

 

·         लाइन प्रोब ऐस्‍से (एलपीए)

इन्‍नोवेटिव और अभिनव डायग्‍नोस्टिक्‍स की स्‍थापना (एफआईएनडी), जेनेवा की मदद से एमडीआर – टीबी के शीघ्र निदान के लिए यह मॉलिकुलर लैब स्‍थापित की गई। लैब को राष्‍ट्रीय मान्‍यता प्राप्‍त है।  

 

·         औषधि प्रवणता परीक्षण (डीएसटी)

एम्‍स के औषधि विभाग में डीएसटी लैब की स्‍थापना (एलाइजा विधि का प्रयोग करके) यह प्रयोगशाला एमडीआर – टीबी के निदान के लिए सॉलिड कल्‍चर का प्रयोग करती है। लैब को राष्‍ट्रीय मान्‍यता प्राप्‍त है।

 

·         माइकोबैक्‍टीरिया ग्रोथ इंडिकेटर ट्यूब (एमजीआईटी)

मेरे दिशा निर्देश में औषधि विभाग में एमडीआर – टीबी के निदान के लिए एमजीआईटी प्रयोग करने वाला तरल कल्‍चर स्‍थापित किया जा रहा है। अभिनव और नूतन डायग्‍नोस्टिक्‍स का आधार (एफआईएनडी), जेनेवा उपस्‍कर तथा उपभोज्‍य उपलब्‍ध करा रहा है।

 

·         एमडीआर टीबी के लिए एक सरोगेट मार्कर के रूप में रिफ़ेम्पिसिन प्रतिरोध के लिए जीनक्‍सपर्ट सुविधा ।

 

·         स्‍वास्‍थ्‍य और परिवार कल्‍याण मंत्रालय, भारत सरकार द्वारा एक्‍सट्रा पल्‍मोनरी टीबी (ईपीटीबी) के लिए उत्कृष्टता केंद्र

 

 

एम्स, नई दिल्‍ली में रोगियों की रक्षा सेवाओं की स्‍थापना

 

i)      डॉट्स केंद्र – यह केंद्र 1998 में स्‍थापित किया गया था। तब से यह आरएनटीसीपी दिशानिर्देशों के अनुसार टीबी रोगियों के निरुपण तथा उपचार के लिए नि:शुल्‍क सेवा उपलब्‍ध करा रहा है।

 

ii)     डॉट्स – प्‍लस साइट : एम्स, नई दिल्‍ली का चिकित्‍सा विभाग एमडीआर टीबी रोगियों के निदान तथा उपचार के लिए डॉट्स प्‍लस साइट के रूप में निर्धारित किया गया है। विभाग के पास आईआरएल, लाईन प्रोब ऐस्‍से (एलपीए) और औषधि संवेदनशीलता परीक्षण (डीएसटी) के लिए बीएसएल 3 सुविधा है। 

 

iii)     समाकलित परामर्श उपचार केंद्र (आईसीटीसी) और एंटिरोट्रोवायरल उपचार (एआरटी) : एम्स, नई दिल्‍ली के आईसीटीसी और आर्ट क्लिनिक के उदारता पूर्वक योगदान यह 2005 से एचआईवी / एआईडीएस रोगियों को नि:शुल्‍क औषधि उपचार उपलब्‍ध करा रहा है।

 

iv)     संक्रामक रोग (आईडी) क्लिनिक : हॉस्पिटल में 2005 से साप्‍ताहिक आईडी क्लिनिक स्‍थापित किया गया। इस क्लिनिक में अवसरवादी संक्रमण (आईआईएस) वाले एचआईवी / एआईडीएस के रोगियों को देखा जाता है।

 

v)     निद्रा क्लिनिक : 2007 से निद्रा क्लिनिक स्‍थापित। यह निद्रा संबंधित श्‍वसन विकार से ग्रस्‍त रोगियों के लिए सप्‍ताह में एक बार रोगी के लिए सेवा उपलब्‍ध कराता है।

Events

 

• The Department organized an awareness programme on the occasion of World Sleep Day on 14^th March 2014. The topic of discussion was “Role of sleep in health and disease”. The talk was organized at the seminar room of the Department of Medicine and was well attended with undergraduate students, nursing staff and postgraduate students of various disciplines among the audience. Various issues including need for sleep, normal duration of sleep, sleep debt, sleep hygiene, insomnia, jet lag, obstructive sleep apnea, restless leg syndrome, etc were highlighted. The presentation was followed by an interactive session and a quiz.

1. The department faculty is actively engaged in numerous large scale research activities, including multinational projects, funded by reputed agencies such as ICMR, DBT, DST, International Atomic Energy Agency, RNTCP, National AIDS Control Organization etc. These projects involve research in different fields of Medicine, such as Respiratory diseases, HIV, Sleep Medicine, and Rheumatology.

2. The Department faculty have edited / co-edited several International and National reputed textbooks, such “Davidson’s Clinical Cases”, and “Tuberculosis (2^nd Ed)”. They are members of International Advisory Boards of books such as “Textbook and Clinical Medicine” by Kumar and Clark (6^th edition), and “Davidson’s - Principles and Practice of Medicine” – 20^th Edition. They are also important office bearers of several National Associations and on the editorial board and reviewer panel of reputed International journals.

3. The departmental faculty has received several prestigious awards and fellowships for their contribution to teaching and research. They are members of various International and National Advisory Committees / Professional organizations/ Editorial Boards.
