Research Experience
I have been working in the area of Histocompatibility, Immunogenetics and transplant Immunologysince past 18 years. My job involves supervision of the tissue typing laboratory, which is the national referral center for HLA testing of patients requiring Organs and Bone marrow transplants. My research interests are focused on investigating the genetic diversity of HLA genes in Indian population, understanding association of HLA genes with diseases like type 1 diabetes, autoimmune thyroiditis, spondilitis, epilepsy, vitiligo, etc and investigation genetic and immunological factors influencing outcome of transplants. I have made significant contribution towards development and expansion of the Asian Indian Bone Marrow registry (AIDMR), which is the first and only Indian volunteer donor registry.
Teaching Experience : I have been teaching the undergraduate and post graduate students from AIIMS and those sent from other Indian centres for training. Under my supervision various thesis have been done
Chief Supervisor- 3 ongoing Co-Supervisor 3 (ongoing), 5 (completed)
DM/MD thesis- 3 (completed)
