  The All India Institute of Medical Sciences and CANKIDS (an NGO committed to care of children with cancer) are jointly organizing the 1st “Childhood Cancer Survivor Conference” on 6th and 7th February 2010 as part of the 9th Childhood Cancer Day celebrations. This day is commemorated and observed all over the world to generate awareness on childhood cancer, raise funds for support of cancer affected families and spread the message that childhood cancer is curable.

With advances in diagnostics and therapeutics and improved supportive care the overall survival of childhood cancer has increased. There is a need for holistic approach. The entire team comprises of a Pediatric oncologist, Pediatric surgeon, Radiologist, Radiation oncologist, Laboratory oncologist, Pathologist, Cytologist, Nurse, Social worker and Psychologist. NGO support forms an essential component in care of these children. The conference will deliberate on a plethora of issues pertaining to awareness generation, early detection & diagnosis and  treatment of childhood cancer.
