This publication has been prepared by Professor Suneeta Mittal,
Director-in-charge WHO-CCR in human Reproduction, All India Institute
of Medical Sciences in collabration with Ministry of Health and
Family Welfare, Government of India on behalf of Consortium for
Emergency Contraception in India. These guidelines are based on
Emergency Contaception service delivery guidelines of ‘Consortium
for Emergency Contraception - Expanding Global Access to Emergency
Contraception’, ‘International Planned Parenthood Federation’,
‘Pathfinder International’, ‘PATH’, ‘Fiji
Training Guidelines’, ‘The Essentials of Contraceptive
Technology’ and ‘The GATHER Guide to Counselling’.
The Training guidlines have been modified to reflect existing conditions
and current health policies in India. The training manual also includes
an update on regular contraception.
The major inputs have been provided by Dr Shalini Singh and Dr
Nalini Arora. We would also like to acknowledge the invaluable contribution
