DEPARTMENT OF ANATOMY, AIIMS |
Electron Microscopy is an important component of research in the
Biological and health Sciences to understand the morphological correlates of molecular
interactions occurring within a cell. In addition to
this, electron microscopes are now routinely used for diagnosis of diseases.
The Electron Microscope Laboratory was established in the year 1971 at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences through a Ford Ford Foundation grant, and in 1983 the Department of Science & Technology (DST) Government of India decided to recognize it as a Sophisticated Instrumentation Facility (SIF) under their RSIC/SIF Programme and since then SIF-AIIMS-New Delhi has been functioning as a National Facility for Electron Microscopy.
The SIF-AIIMS, New Delhi is committed to :

A2 Short-term Courses for PG students
One week short-term courses in the application of Electron Microscopy are conducted regularly for PG students of Department of Anatomy, Biotechnology and students of other institutions of the country.
B. Biological tissue preparation facility for both TEM and SEM.
C. Examining (viewing) the specimen and photomicrographic facility both for TEM and SEM.
D. Special E.M. techniques
1. Immunoelectron Microscopy
2. Cryoelectron Microscopy
These special techniques have extensive application in molecular biology research.
4. Booking of the Facility
Requisition forms are available at the Facility and advance booking is imperative to organize a time bound activity. One set of Requisition form (separate for (1) SEM and (2) TEM work) is enclosed. The duly filled in and signed Requisition Form should be sent to the undersigned for advance booking.
